Accomplishments

All In for Ansonia & Derby

  • Hosts community dinners, dialogues, and forums to provide a forum to discuss issues in the community and provide a space to problem solve alongside policymakers and housing providers.
  • Canvasses neighborhoods to connect with neighbors and learn hopes and concerns.
  • Hosts community clean-ups with residents and town leadership.
  • Hosted development tour with the mayor of Derby, and meets regularly with the mayor of Ansonia.

All In for Milford

  • Hosts monthly community gatherings, informational sessions, and public forums attended regularly by residents and community leaders of both parties, including a televised mayoral forum, a police-community discussion, and several information sessions around housing and food.
  • Successfully campaigned to establish the town Fair Rent Commission and staff it with diverse representation. Now driving efforts to re-establish the town Housing Partnership Committee.
  • Won representation on Board of Alders, Planning & Zoning, Board of Education, and Fair Rent Commission.
  • Championed and helped author new accessory dwelling unit (ADU) regulations.
  • Led efforts for transparency and public involvement in spending American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
  • Partnered with Milford Education Advocates to restore $1.7M to budget, drove attendance at public hearings.
  • Co-produced Milford’s first large-scale Juneteenth celebration.

All In for Oxford

  • Hosted American Rescue Plan (ARPA) forums; now leading the creation of a town community and youth center with ARPA funds.
  • Won representation on town Planning & Zoning and Building/Planning Committee.
  • Won loosened regulations around accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
  • Started a successful Neighbor- to-Neighbor Food Pantry, whose founder is now the director of the town food bank.
  • Co-sponsored the first Oxford- Seymour Juneteenth

All In for Seymour

  • Successfully campaigned to establish a town Affordable Housing Committee; now has a majority of seats on the committee.
  • Won representation on Planning & Zoning and Board of Education.
  • Won loosened regulations around accessory dwelling units (ADUs), including their use to generate income
  • Won zoning approval for an adolescent inpatient mental health treatment facility
  • Successfully campaigned for increased accessibility and hours at the town food bank,and started a new Food to Kids program.
  • Co-sponsored the first Oxford- Seymour Juneteenth.

Naugatuck Valley Project

  • Created and maintain Brookside Cooperative Housing, the state’s first housing cooperative, and the Naugatuck Valley Housing Development Corporation, a region-wide community land trust.
  • Uniting faith, labor, and neighborhood leaders in campaigns connecting housing, environmental justice, and domestic workers’ rights.
  • Hosting community forums with alders and restarting Fair Rent Commission.
